George William Eisenzimmer, age 82, passed on October 27, 2015.
Born in Springfield Township, he lived here most of his life. George graduated from Springfield High School in 1952, where he was a standout track athlete. Following his graduation he hitchhiked to California where he did odd jobs. Upon his return, he continued his education at Miami University and Kent State University where he majored in Art and was on the varsity wrestling team. He joined social fraternity Alpha Tau Omega.
He excelled at commercial model making at Ferriot Brothers. He retired from Goodyear with 32 years of service as a Senior Designer. During that time he was awarded 12 registered US patents. George was a member of the Northcoast Miata Club, and had a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed sailing, boating and traveling, and had traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dolly Eisenzimmer; daughter, Claudette (Dampier); wife, Betty (Caddick); and sister, Nancy (Weber), George is survived by wife, Linda Wynkoop Houck Eisenzimmer of 10 years; brother, Fred (Sandi); son, Jon; grandchildren, George and Frank Eisenzimmer of Switzerland, Paul Dampier of Philadelphia, Pa., Eric Eisenzimmer of Roanoke, Va.
George believed in hard work and loved to spend time caring for his property so much that he adopted the personal motto, 'Work is fun!' He was proud to be able to award worthy students of Springfield High School scholarships as a part of the Betty Eisenzimmer Scholarship Fund.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.). Friends and family will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Lunch afterward.
