George M. Cochran passed away on September 28, 2017 shortly after celebrating his 97th birthday.
Born and raised in Akron, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. George resided at Danbury Senior Living in Cuyahoga Falls. He enjoyed playing bridge, euchre and was a great poker player, but more than anything else he loved to polka. I’m sure he and mom are dancing around on heaven’s floor with angels waiting in line for a dance.
George was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie and second wife, Victoria; and brother, Howard. He is survived by daughters, Georgia (Pete) Marusiak of Uniontown and Patricia (John) Jones of Florida; grandchildren, Paula (Matt) Livigni, Julie (Cary) Smith, Jody Vittorella, Amy Combs and Art Jones; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Carson, Rhett and Skyla.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Michael Williamson presiding. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park where military honors will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
