George L. Bornman, age 79, went home to be with the Lord February 1, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.
George was born in Akron and was a lifetime area resident. He served in the U.S. Army and retired in his mid 60’s from the Quality Control Department from Owens Corning. George was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and an avid supporter of the “Arts at Holy Trinity”. He also enjoyed the music ministries of the church and attending the Crossways Bible Study. George loved traveling, attending the Cleveland Ballet and the Playhouse Square Theatre. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson, Josh.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha; son, David; he is survived by his longtime companion, William Westover; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Steve Sampson; grandson, Josh Sampson; former wife and dear friend, Marilyn Bornman; other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank Crossroads Hospice and Bath Manor for their loving care of George.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016, 12 p.m., at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 N. Prospect Street, Akron, Ohio 44304, with Pastor David Nevergall officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to “Arts at Holy Trinity”, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
