George W. Bean, age 85, passed away on March 15, 2017.
Born in Akron, he lived in the area all of his life. Mr. Bean was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for 10 years and retired from the Lawson Milk Company after 25 years of service. He was a fan of NASCAR racing, enjoyed being outdoors, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Morton and Emma Bean, he is survived by his former wife, Shirley; sons, Dale (Ronda), Scott (JoAnn) and Craig (Crissy) Bean; and grandchildren, Michael, Daytona, Scotty, Carolyn, Kayla, Phoebe, Nikolus, Nathaniel, Janet and Billy Bean.
George’s family would like to thank the staffs of Great Lakes Caring Hospice and St. Luke Lutheran Community – Portage Lakes for the loving care that was given to their father.
Funeral service will be Saturday, 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Chaplain Janice Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The family suggests memorials to St. Luke Lutheran Community – Portage Lakes, 615 Latham Lane, Akron, OH 44319.
