Gene A. Swartz

Gene A. Swartz, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2018. Born in Suffield, he was a lifelong area resident. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace in 1985 after 34 years of service. Gene was a dedicated longtime member of Suffield United Church of Christ. He truly enjoyed spending the last 27 winters at Reflections on Silver Lake in Florida with his wife, Vera. Preceded in death by his son, David in 2014; his parents, Carson and Naomi; four brothers and one sister, he is survived by his loving wife of nearly 68 years, Vera; sons, Ronald (Judy), Stephen (Trish) and Andy (Sue); ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and another expected soon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed. Friends and family will be received Wednesday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral Service will be Thursday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Karin A. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
