Gary D. Wymer

Gary D. Wymer, age 59, passed away October 5, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Canton, Ohio, graduated from Lake High School and Kent State University. Gary had been employed over 30 years with Sears and recently his career path led him to the Akron International Friendship Association. It was at AIF where Gary touched hundreds of people, both locally and globally.

Preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie; he is survived by father, Russell; sister, Gayle (Joe) Hershberger both of Uniontown; nieces, Abby (Nahum) Preston of Akron, Tessa (Nick) Thompson of Hartville, Carly Hershberger of New York City; great nieces, Isabelle, Gretta and Rosemary; great nephews, Arthur and Canon; and friend to many.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street, Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Memorial services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to service at Uniontown United Methodist Church, 13370 Cleveland Avenue NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685 with Reverend James Nolte officiating. Private burial in Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorials to Kent State Memorial Scholarship Fund or Akron International Friendship Association in care of the funeral home address.
