Gary D. Whittaker, age 67, died peacefully at home January 6, 2014 surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
Born in Akron, he lived in the area all of his life. Gary retired from Rockhill Machining Industries in 2011 after many years of service. He loved cars, and especially enjoyed attending car shows. Gary liked going to the Hartville Flea Market, summer vacations at Put-In-Bay, but most of all, spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard Whittaker and Velma Laconi; his loving daughter, Lisa in 2006; granddaughter, Allisa King; and dear brother, Richard. He was the beloved husband of Alice, his wife of 48 years; the loving father of son, Bill (Beth); and dear brother of Ruthann (Dick) Montgomery. Gary is also survived by son-in-law, Wayne King; grandchildren, Nicole, Gregory, Gary and William; sister-in-law, Jean; and special niece, Vicki (John) Krug.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Summa, 444 N. Main Street, P.O.
