Gary S. Shyjka

On November 13, 2021, the Lord called Gary Shyjka home at the age of 72. His greatest joy was his family, riding his Harley, and making memories. Gary was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 24 for 30 years as a long distance truck driver. He took great pride in his many accomplishments and numerous driving awards. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, and two sisters. Gary is survived by his wife, Barb, of 52 years. Brother, Dave (Janet) and sister, Pat (Lew). Sons, Jason (Tammy) and Todd. Grandchildren, Nick, Courtney, Devan, Kylee, Kiana, Preston, Bailee, and Noah. Great-grandson, Ryder. Numerous other relatives and friends. HEAVEN BOUND HAMMER DOWN! Friends and family will be received on Thursday, November 18th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44312. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 19th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E Market St, Akron, OH 44308.
