Gary L. McElfresh, age 70, passed away March 5, 2013.
Born on November 1, 1942 in Cuyahoga Falls to Margie and Earl McElfresh, he was a graduate of Manchester High School. Gary was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church in Hartville and Faith Baptist Church in New Port Richey, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and also served in the U.S. Air Force. Gary was married to Rose on August 14, 1971. He taught at several schools, including Sunnyside Christian and Brunswick Christian in Ohio, and Grace Bible Christian in Florida. He worked in food service at Billy Graham’s Training Center “The Cove” in Asheville, N.C., and was food service manager at Word of Life Conference Center and Cares Enrichment Center in Hudson, Fla.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gary is survived by his wife, Rose; son, Timothy Michael; brother, Harry McElfresh; sister-in-law, Mindy McElfresh; niece, Missy McElfresh; nephews, Harry Neal and Michael (Paula) McElfresh; great-niece, Stormy; and great-nephew, Colt.
Funeral service will be Sunday, 3 p.m. at Bethany Mennonite Church, 3497 Edison Street NE, Hartville, OH 44632, with Pastor Dave Sommers, Pastor Tim Sommers and Marcus Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Friends may call at the church from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Bethany Mennonite Church.
