Gary L. Fink

Gary L. Fink “The Heatmiser”, age 60, passed away March 20, 2014 after a short illness.

Born in Lancaster County, Pa., he lived in the Akron area most of his life. Gary was a graduate of Springfield High School, and retired from Kobelco Stewart Bollings, Inc. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Mogadore Moose Lodge 1082. Gary enjoyed boating, water skiing, NASCAR, and tinkering in his garage.

Preceded in death by parents, Russell, Sr. and Whelma; son, Robert G.; and sister, Sharon Shaffer, Gary is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pat; daughter, Shantel M. Watson; daughter-in-law, Harriet Fink; and was also a father to Kevin Myers and Shelly Hill; also survived by grandchildren, Alexis, Auston, Tyler, Trenton, Carolann and Paige; and was “Papa Gary” to Delaney, Dylan, Ryan, Ava and Bryce. He is also survived by brothers, Russell S., Jr. (Betty), Byron L., Sr. (Cindy), Eric C. (Barbara) and Robin R.; sister, Donna V. Engle; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2254 Triplett Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44312 with Rev. Robert Tauscher officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406; or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
