Fred Berlin, age 74, passed away peacefully September 13, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with cancer at home with family at his bedside.
Born January 6, 1948 in Doylestown, he was a Green resident for 35 years. He graduated from Chippewa High School and served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. Fred worked for B&W for 35 years, the City of Green for 10 years, and Kerns Floral after his retirement. He loved spending time with nature, gardening, and feeding wild birds. Fred loved to travel, especially down to Louisiana to spend the summers with family. He lived for watching Marissa play college basketball. He was so proud of her. Fred was a strong man who believed in the ability to change and devoted his time to the jail ministry. He was an active member of Maranatha Church. He loved Jesus and knew where he was going. Fred loved his wife and family and he will be dearly missed by all.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Mariam (Hummel) and Harold Berlin, and brothers, Richard and Jim Berlin. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dianne Berlin; children, Jamie (Pam), John, Chris (Cindy), Eric (Taren), Nicole (Garrison) Welch, Tressa (Mike) Smith; grandchildren, special granddaughter Marissa Berlin, Kylie, Hannah, Gavin, Brayden, Vanessa, Ahnika, Logan, Devon, Kimber, Rhealynn, Ashlynn, Oaklynn, Gracelynn, and Everlynn.

Friends and family will be received Friday, September 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will be held at the church Saturday, September 17th at 11 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at East Liberty Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mission 22, a national non-profit organization to aid active service members and veterans living with post traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries (mission22.com).
