Fred Franklin Snowden

Fred Franklin Snowden, 92, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

Fred was born May 30, 1920 in Hamilton County, Indiana to Fred Bert and Elizabeth (Belzer) Snowden. He was a resident of the Akron area since he was a child, and retired from the B.F. Goodrich Company. He loved life and traveling with his family. Fred was a veteran of World War II, where he was a B-17 Flight Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Elizabeth; and his son, Dennis Earl; a brother and four sisters. Fred is survived by son, Fred E. (Sharon) Snowden; and a daughter, Jacqueline (Ken) Morrow; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013, 11:30 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Rev. Rich Ferris officiating. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where military rites will be conducted by Kent American Legion Post 496. The family would like to thank Senior Sitters and The Laurels of Massillon for their care and compassion, and especially Robin, Carol, Cheryl and Susan.
