MOGADORE/SUFFIELD -- Frank Klettlinger, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Akron, he lived in Suffield for more than 60 years where he owned and operated Klettlinger Greenhouse with his wife, Dora. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as an interpreter and helping to run camps for displaced persons. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic War Veterans, Mogadore VFW Post 8487, Knights of Columbus, Mogadore Moose No. 1082, and a former member of Suffield Lions Club.
Frank was a man of many interests. He was a violinist and enjoyed music, especially polkas. He also helped to establish many of the local farmer’s markets in the area. Frank remained an expert in the “quality control” division of the greenhouse until the end. As the beloved patriarch of the Klettlingers, he dedicated his life to his family and will be deeply missed.
Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dora (Scarpellini) in 2006; parents, Frank and Elizabeth; and brother, George. Frank is survived by sons, Dan (Cindy) and Larry (Donna) and; daughters, Lisa Klettlinger-Oeltjen and Susan (George) Aronhalt; grandchildren, Tim Klettlinger, Kate Klettlinger-Wartko (Nick), Marisa Oeltjen, Scott (Krissy) Oeltjen, Nathan (Jennifer) Klettlinger, Angela Klettlinger, Stephanie (Adam) Garvin, Deanna Klettlinger, Caleb Aronhalt, Jesse (Maddi) Aronhalt, Lizzi Aronhalt, Becca Aronhalt, Christina Aronhalt and Joey Aronhalt; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Eric Wartko and Isabella Klettlinger; brother, John (Helen) Klettlinger; brother-in-law, Roland Platz; sister-in-law, Mary Klettlinger; and many other family, friends and devoted customers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532) MOGADORE, Ohio 44260. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260, with Father Thomas Acker, S.J. presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. The family suggests memorials to the Suffield Township Paramedics, 1256 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, OH 44260.
