Frances J. “Jerrie” Skidmore, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Hanging Dog, North Carolina, Jerrie lived in the Uniontown area most of her life. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1957, and went on to earn her associates degree from Bob Jones University. Jerrie was employed with B.F. Goodrich as an executive secretary for 35 years. A former member of the Akron Baptist Temple, she was currently a member of The Chapel, attending both the Akron and Green campuses. Jerrie enjoyed spending her spare time golfing, playing cards, bowling and reading.
Preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Bessie Ramsey, she is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jim; daughters, Joy (James) Lawrence and Jill (Vincent) Heldreth; grandchildren, Matthew, Garrett, Makayla, Gwendolyn and Nicholas; brother, Dr. Charles (Sylvia) Ramsey; sisters, Patricia White, Carolyn (Robert) Slusser and Nancy (Du’Wayne) Hileman; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be held Monday, 12 noon at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Castelli officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
