Felix J. Ciocca, age 87, passed away on August 25, 2017. Born on October 5, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Angelo and Helen (Ricci) Ciocca. He spent most of his adult life in the Akron area, the last 49 years in Mogadore, Ohio.
Felix earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Pittsburgh in 1953 while operating his own television repair business, North Hills Television. He also served in the United States Navy.
Felix retired as Manager of Simulation Engineering from Goodyear (Aircraft) Aerospace/Loral/Lockheed Martin with 36 years of service. His interest and involvement in the industry continued throughout his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Felix was preceded in death by his brother Samuel Ciocca, sister and brother-in-law Paul and Rosemarie (Roling) Hogrefe, brother-in-law Ralph Roling, and brother-in-law Glenn Roling.
Felix is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Roling); son John (Michele), daughter Ann (Glenn), son Jim (Annie), daughter Elaine Yuhos (Christopher) and son David. He cherished his grandchildren Lauren Gardner (Joshua), Leann, Alex, Angela, Zac (John and Michele’s children); Becky, Paul (fiancée Rachael Smith), Randy (Jim and Annie’s children); Michael and Anthony (Elaine and Christopher’s sons); Lincoln Gardner (Lauren and Joshua’s son). Felix is also survived by brother-in-law George “Dutch” Roling, sisters-in-law Agnes (Roling) Jungbluth and Lois (Faragher) Roling.
Felix was a steward of the community, serving on the Mogadore School Board and as Chairman of the Mogadore Village Zoning Board of Appeals for over 30 years. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ellet. Felix enjoyed a love of automobiles, ballroom dancing and cruise vacations. Above all else, he treasured his family and gathering with them. Felix will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and colleagues.
Friends and family will be received Monday, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Michael Williamson presiding. Procession will form at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore.
