Eunice B. Wood of Suffield, Ohio went home to be with Jesus on January 19, 2018 at Meese Countryside Hospital in Clearwater, Florida.
She was born in Dille, West Virginia on April 19, 1925. Eunice and her husband, Marvin, started the “Christian Quartet”. They also sang with the “Light of the Valley Quartet” traveling all over to different churches. Eunice also sang by herself for several years. She was a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Star Wakoma Chapter #52 in Summersville, West Virginia. She held many offices over the years, including three times Past Worthy Matron and Grand Representative to Rhode Island. Eunice was also a member of Home Missionary Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio. She was very proud of her church and loved to be involved in whatever she could. Eunice also loved to make quilts and give them away to her family and friends as gifts whenever she was able.
Preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents, Scott and Mary Nichols; three sisters; and four brothers; she is survived by her daughters, Jo (George) Young of San Diego, California and Sandra (Pat) Quigley of Suffield, Ohio; brother, Donald Nichols of Gouverneur, New York; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends will be received Monday, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312, where an Eastern Star Service will be conducted by O.E.S. Falls Chapter #245 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Home Missionary Baptist Church, 1922 Oaks Drive, Akron, Ohio 44312, with Rev. Keith Emhoff officiating. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
