Eugene G. Opperman

Eugene Glenn Opperman (Gene) peacefully went to meet his heavenly father Tues., 24 Jan 2023. Gene was born 22 Feb 1926 in Oakland, CA to Adam and Agnes Opperman. Soon after, the family returned to Akron where Gene remained the rest of his life. 

Gene was a WWII Army veteran of 6 years. He was employed at Goodyear where he retired after 30+ years. Gene was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Star 187

His passions and loves included his family, woodworking, building and flying RC Model Airplanes, baking and talking on his Ham radio.

Gene is proceeded in death by wives MaryAnn (Sandmann), Vivian (Hays), June (Compton), and his sons James and Kenneth. He leaves behind sons Dennis (Cora Ann) of GA, Edward (LaQuita) of VA, and Mark (Karen) of Akron., daughters Vickie and Mary Lou of CA., Donna (Harry) of WA., stepsons Tom (Cathy) Millard, Jim (Linda) Millard, stepdaughters Coletta (Mario) Nuosci, and Connie Millard all of Ohio. Also are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Masonic Star Lodge 187, 2307 Sackett Ave, Cuy. Falls Ohio 44221, or to St. Jude’s.

Friends and family will be received Friday, February 3rd from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312 with a funeral service beginning at 3 p.m.
