Don Looney passed away on July 22, 2021 at the age of 92. Born in Williamson, W.Va., he moved to Akron in 1953, where he retired from Uniroyal-Goodrich Tire Company in 1988, after 27 years of service. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Don was a member of the Northampton Bible Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, serving as a Deacon and Treasurer for 14 years. He was a graduate of Concord University and a 21 gallon blood donor.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Hollen F. and Mae C. Looney; sisters, June L. Maynard and Mary Lee Murray; his wife, Eva; and daughter, Charlotte Ruwart. He is survived by his adored wife, Iola; brothers, Larry of Miami, FL, and Terry of Maineville, OH.; children, Ken (Vickie), Dale (Linda), Brian (Lisa) and Hugh (Chrissie) Hawley, Melvin Scott; six nephews; one niece; 22 grandchildren; and one great-great grandson born one day before he passed.

Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Don’s life at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Demund officiating. Entombment at Hillside Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy will immediately follow.
