Ethel Frost, 87, died on October 17; she was a long-time resident of Suffield, and earlier Akron, Ohio. She was the loving wife to the late David A. Frost and is survived by her children, Jennifer (Jeff) and Linda; five grandchildren, Ian, Hannah, Emily, Lucy and Cora; sister, Ruth Mohlmaster; nieces, Wendy and Beth; and nephew Martin.
Born in Orrville, Ethel was the daughter of German immigrants, Martin and Elizabeth Ganzer, and grew up in the Mennonite community there. She cared for her mother who died when Ethel was 12; a graduate of Akron East High School, Ethel attended Akron City Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years, at Akron City, Cincinnati and Akron Children’s Hospitals, Portage County Health Department, and finally Kent Visiting Nurse Association where she became Clinical Director. She was often recognized for excellence in health care and in 1986, named Ohio Care Giver of the Year. After retiring, she turned to her love of books, developing her church library. When she wasn’t reading a novel, attending conferences, or playing with her grandchildren, she was playing euchre or cribbage on one of the many boards she and her husband collected. She was selfless, spiritual, and creative. Her family and her friends were the loving center of her life. She will be greatly missed.
