Ethel Carr, age 97½, went to join her husband, Ford on March 7, 2016.
Born in Akron, she was a resident of Uniontown for the last 30 years, and prior to that spent 23 years living in Westboro, Mass. Ethel was Past President of the PTA at both Hatton and Hyre schools. She enjoyed playing Bridge, loved the ocean, and liked to feed the birds and squirrels beside her window.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ford Carr; sister, Edith Kling; and parents, Robert and Elsie Carr, she is survived by sons, Robert (Cyd) Carr and James (Gail) Carr; grandchildren, John, Jennifer (Bobby) Alexander, Glenn and Heather; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Alexander and Fisher Carr. Ethel’s family would like to thank her wonderful neighbors whose help allowed her to remain in her home, and to Home Instead for their care of Mom over the last year.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) with Pastor Mike Shaub officiating. Friends and family will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Summa, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-6153.
