"Then & Now" Ernest L. Reynolds, age 86, passed away June 14, 2015 after a brief illness.
A life resident of Akron, he retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1992, with 38 years of service from Akron Main Post Office. Ernie enjoyed collecting coins. He played Euchre at the Ellet Community Center. Ernie was never able to choose a favorite song because he loved all types of music. He looked for any excuse to have dinner at the Hartville Kitchen. Despite having poor vision, Ernie remarkably was able to work and raise his four children.
Preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy, he is survived by children, Genevieve I. (Charles) Growdon, Robert L. Reynolds, Marjorie A. Reynolds and Ernest S. Reynolds; grandchildren, Benjamin Growdon, Abigail (Matthew) Mundy and Elizabeth (Matthew) Dresher; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Hunter, Jarrett and Cassidy; brother, Robert G. (Janet); and sister, Genevieve F. Simmons. He will also be missed by long-time friend, Norma McPeek, her family; and other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Harold Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at East Akron Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333.
