Elson B. “Red” Decker, age 86, passed away October 16, 2014.
Born in Rochester, Pa., he lived in Lakemore most of his life, serving for 27 years on the Lakemore Fire Department before retiring in 1993. Mr. Decker was employed with General Tire, retiring in 1982 after 25 years of service, and was a member of the General Tire Retirees Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Minnie; and his wife, Joyce. He is survived by his stepson, Mike Brumfield; and brothers, Doyle, Roy (Ellen) and Danny (Mary).
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Richard W. Ferris officiating. Private burial at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Lakemore Fire Department, 1400 Main Street, Lakemore, OH 44250.
