Elsie M. (Jones) DeLong of Akron, Ohio passed away on December 6, 2017 at the age of 97. She was born on April 27, 1920 in Parsons, West Virginia, and has been a resident of Akron since 1927.
Elsie was preceded in death by parents, McClure B. Jones and Etta (Adams) Jones; her husband of 40 years, Oliver R. DeLong Sr.; two brothers, McClure Jr. and Collas; two sisters, Icie Miller and EvaLee Vernon; and one Godchild, David.
Elsie was a member of Springfield Baptist Church for over 50 years. Having a natural talent, she was a local artist, belonging to Tri-County Art Society, Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and entered many art shows at Stan Hywet, Hale Homestead and Belden Village. Elsie worked for Goodyear and Firestone Rubber Company for several years during World War II, and retired from Yoder Brothers in Barberton.
Elsie is survived by step-children, Robert (Cherie) DeLong and Oliver DeLong (Molly deceased); four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and two Godchildren. She also leaves many cherished friends, relatives and former neighbors in Barberton and Ellet.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, from 12 to 1 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Springfield Baptist Church, the Salvation Army or Crossroads Hospice.
