Ellen "Marie" Donohew (Reed)

Ellen “Marie” Donohew (Reed), age 87, passed away June 19, 2013. She was surrounded by her loving family at the Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, Ohio during her brief struggle with kidney failure.

Marie was born to the late Francis Reed and Minnie Cox on September 12, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. Marie thoroughly enjoyed bingo several days a week and casino bus trips to Wheeling and Mountaineer with her sister, Dolores (Jack) Parsons by her side. They were not only sisters, but each other’s best friend. She also loved spending time with her new great-grandson, Diesel Himebaugh who was nine months old. He always brought a special joy to her heart and smile to her face. Marie loved to talk about the movie theater job that she held when she was younger. She also loved to cook, and has traveled to many wonderful places, Las Vegas, Nevada being her favorite.

Marie was the mother of two boys, Danny Donohew (Bobbie Tiedt) and David Donohew Sr. (Lisa Donohew) who she loved dearly. She also raised her granddaughter as if she was her own daughter, Ami Barkley-Hanson (Jesse Himebaugh). Marie and Ami spent 33 years together and they both meant the world to one another. They loved to shop, go to lunch and catch up on life, and just be grandmother and granddaughter. Marie also left behind grandsons, David Donohew Jr. (Tracy Donohew) and Dylan Foster; great-grandson, Tyler Donohew; and also numerous nieces and nephews (Larry, Jack, Annette, Karie, Tracey, Kristie and Jennifer); and many more family, friends, and bingo buddies. She will now rest in peace with her late husband of 50 years, Curtis Donohew; brothers, Bill, Bud and Jimmy; sister, Patty; and longtime friends she has missed dearly.

Per Marie’s wishes, there will be a private visitation held at the convenience of the family.
