Elizabeth (Oberdier) Bates

Elizabeth (Oberdier) Bates, age 90, passed away May 25, 2013.

Born in Cambridge, Ohio, Elizabeth lived in Akron most of her life, and was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Preceded in death by husbands, Irvin Oberdier in 1968, and Herbert Bates in 1995; she is survived by son, Thomas (Karen) Oberdier; daughters, Mary Ann (Edwin) Lopacki and Jeanne Marie Oberdier; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Summa Palliative Care Unit and the staff of GreenView Inn for their care of Elizabeth.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 by Father Michael Williamson. PROCESSION WILL FORM AT THE CHURCH. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, 70 West Streetsboro Street, Suite 201, Hudson, Ohio 44236.
