Edward Allen Ody, age 61, passed away suddenly and went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2018.
Born in Akron, he was a lifelong area resident. Ed retired from the Fred W. Albrecht (Acme) Grocery Company after more than 40 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Advent Lutheran Church where he actively served in many capacities. Ed was also a dedicated volunteer at the Lake Township FISH Food Bank. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, baseball, photography, playing cards, and fishing, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pearl, he is survived by his brother, Robert (Michele); sister, Linda (Carl) Humphreys; nieces and nephews, Carl, Jacob and Jessica Humphreys, Bryan Ody and Caitlin (Chris) Honniball; great-nephews, Owen and Logan; great-niece, Samantha; and other relatives. Ed was also a devoted friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Friends and family will be received Friday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral Service will follow the visitation Friday, March 30 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bob Cheyney Jr. officiating. Burial will take place at Hillside Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Lake Township FISH, 934 W. Maple Street, Hartville, OH 44632.
