Edward R. “Bud” Moffatt Sr., age 78, went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2015 after a long illness.
Born in Beverly, W. Va. to Julius and Mattie Moffatt, he lived in the Akron area most of his life. Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1991, where he worked as an electrician. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at reunions, and loved singing and playing cards.
Preceded in death by parents, Julius and Mattie; sisters, Nancy, Doris, Leah and Norma, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy; sons, Edward R. Jr. (Carol) and John M. (Helen) Moffatt, Richard (Sherrie) and Michael (Loretta) Linke; daughters, Debra (Mike) Miller, Carol (Glenn) Payton, Melissa (Ray) Ridenour, Alisa (Jimmy) Moffatt, Angela White, Cheryl Barnes, Valerie (Gary) Alder, Victoria (Ken) Kotkowski and Darlene Blaha; 40 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Ken) Myers, Sandra (Tom) Pyles and Judy (Jim) Valocik; uncle, Jack (Ruth) Moffatt; aunt, Virginia Robbins; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor W. James Case officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Stow Community United Church of Christ, 1567 Pilgrim Drive, Stow, OH 44224.
