Doyle H. Coontz

Doyle Hartzel Coontz, 70, passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2023.

A native of West Virginia, he was a lifetime resident of Akron. Doyle worked at The University of Akron, retiring as Plumbing Superintendent after 38 years of service. He took great pride in his yard, spending countless hours gardening and growing vegetables. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Doyle was preceded in death by his daughters, Stacy Coontz and Samantha Kitchen; mother, Willadean Boyles; and brothers, Darrell and Dennis Coontz. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tammie Coontz (Perry); children, Amber (Kevin) Harrison, Heidi Alldredge, Taren (Jimmy Mitchell) Alldredge , Michael (Michelle) Alldredge; son-in-law, Joel Wheele; grandchildren, Cassidy Harrison, Gaige Harrison, Garrett Harrison, Jaden Wheele, Jake Wheele, Alexis White, Delani White, JT White, Emma Alldredge, Jordyn Alldredge, Ryleigh Yoak, Owen Mitchell, Stacy Kitchen, Savannah Kitchen; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nanette (Danny) Carver; mother-in-law, Faye Perry; niece, Haylee (Dustin) Johnson; siblings, Mark (Tammy) Coontz, Paul (Brenda) Coontz, Tim (Tami) Howard, Sue (Roy) Creekmore; friends, Dave and Nancy Carter, Gene and Kathy Taylor.

Friends and family will be received Friday, June 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. The family suggests donations to the Lakemore United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 1536 Flickinger Rd. Akron, OH 44312.
