Dorothy Tharp (nee Fruth)

Dorothy Tharp (nee Fruth) Dorothy Tharp joined the love of her life, William Tharp Jr., in Heaven on March 16th, 2017. She was born in Akron in 1930 and lived in the area most of her life. Dorothy successfully raised six children, using the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule and the philosophy “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” She loved her large family and was always there in times of need. Dorothy loved to travel and spend time in the outdoors, whether it was camping or harvesting things from the garden. She was particularly fond of all flowers and always had a flower bed growing outside of her many homes over the years. She was a graduate of Akron University and helped Bill with the family business. She was a member of Clearview United Methodist Church. Also preceding her in death were brother, Donald Fruth and sisters, Carolyn Richards and Jacquelyn Hodges. She is survived by sons, David (Leanna), Michael (Sheila) and Dan Tharp; daughters, Debbie (Jim) Miller, Bonnie (Andy) Gehann and Barbara Finney; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Bob (Marty) Fruth and many other family members. Rest In Peace, Mommy. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 with Pastor Linda Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home prior to the service Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
