Dorothy went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2021.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Beulah Ringgold; brother, Bill Ringgold; and husband, Charles Albert Lower.
Dorothy was born in Akron on October 2, 1924. She attended Springfield Local Schools where she graduated in 1943. During high school and two years after graduation, she worked at Goodyear Aircraft. Dorothy attended Kent State University for two years where she met her husband Charles Albert and were married in November 1946.
She continued her education at The University of Akron and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Administration. Dorothy was employed by Akron Public Schools for 32 years as a teacher, principal and district math supervisor for all the elementary schools.
Dorothy attended The Chapel in Akron from the first service on January 14, 1934 till March 2019. She was a faithful servant as a member, teacher and junior department head.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Thomas (Kathleen); grandsons, Matthew (Katelyn) and Tyler; great-grandson, Peter Charles; daughter, Deborah Moran (Gary); stepsons, Jesse (Ioana) of Lees Summit Mo., Brook (Molly) of Savannah, Ga., and step grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312. Due to COVID, masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed. A funeral service will be held immediately after at 1 p.m. and burial will be at Hillside Memorial Park in Akron.
