Dorothy Marie Gibson, born on December 1, 1930 in Copley, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her loving husband of 70 years, Robert D. Gibson, on December 22, 2021.
Dorothy retired from First Merit with 22 years of service. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family and attending all of her grandchildren's activities.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas E. Shumate; mother, Myrtie Mae (Wingate) Shumate; and 10 siblings, one at birth, Bernice Shumate, Maxine Allshouse, Thomas Shumate, Opal Monk, Dolores Dobbins, Ernestine Shumate, Doug Shumate, Rowena Kopie, Donald Shumate; and son-in-law, Jerry Parker.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Diane Johnson, Marilyn Parker, and Linda Gibson; grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Johnson, Loire (Steve) Fox, Julie Cottrell, Matthew (Laura) Parker, Ted (Jasmin) Parker, and John Parker; along with 13 great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Payton, Ethan, Micah, Josiah, Isaac, Kendall, Aliyah, Chloe, Madison, Jocelyn, Riley, and Yari; her grand-dog, Cali; many loving nieces and nephews; and her loving Water Church family.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, December 29th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30th at 11 a.m. with an hour of calling starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
