Dorothy “Ginny” Adkins, age 94, passed away on September 21, 2018.
Born in Cambridge, Ohio to John and Gertrude (Kirkman) Rayburn, she lived most of her life in the Uniontown area. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting as well as vegetable and flower gardening and was known for her “green thumb”. She loved and adored her grandson, Michael and she always said that taking care of him was a joy. Dorothy also enjoyed spending time with her four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Adkins Jr.; sisters, Helen Stage and Betty Leeper; and brother, John Rayburn Jr., Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Joanna (Josh) Dixon; grandson, Michael (Andrea) Dixon; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Aleesia, Vivian and Samuel; sister, Ruth Ballweg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) A private graveside service and burial will take place at the Old Washington Cemetery in Old Washington, Ohio.
