Doris M. Mathers, 99, passed away peacefully December 5, 2015.
Born in Pensacola, Florida, Doris lived in Akron most of her life. She was a member of Gospel Crusaders Church over 65 years.
Preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Richard Mathers; brothers, John and James Anderson; sister, Hilda Gadberry; and daughters-in-law, Janice Mathers and Jean Mathers, she is survived by her son, Edward Mathers; daughter, Linda Kronenthal; grandchildren, Tracey (Linwood) Bermingham, George “Randy” (Cindy) Mathers, Michelle Mathers, John Mathers, Holly Mathers, Terri Mathers, Mark John (Jeannie) Kronenthal, and Mary Beth (Marty) List; great-grandchildren, Julie (Rob) Dittman, Michael Gehring, Jennifer Gehring, Ryan Mathers, Elaina Hanson, Louise Kronenthal, George Kronenthal and Fred Kronenthal; great-great-grandchildren, Emily Dittman, Kaitlyn Feller and Allison Dittman. The family would like to thank ManorCare of Belden Village and Crossroads Hospice for their tender loving care of our mother, and a special thank you to the nieces and nephews of Doris for their love and visits.
Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron/Ellet, Ohio 44312, with Rev. Richard Woodin and Rev. John Beers officiating. Friends and family will be received two hours prior to the service on Friday, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
