Doris R. Crawford

Doris Rae Carpenter Crawford, 85, passed away March 31, 2014.

Doris and her husband Vince were co-owners of Carpenter’s Photography Studio and longtime members of The Chapel – Akron Campus. Doris will be remembered for her love of working with people, from her many years spent in the family’s second generation photography business. She was a pioneer in the role of women holding leadership positions in the professional photography industry, serving as the first female president of several regional and state level professional photographer associations. She continued her love of photography and working with people, well into her retirement years – by volunteering her photography talents at the assisted living facility where she resided until her death.

Preceded in death by her husband, Vincent C. Crawford; she is survived by her son, Douglas (Chris) Crawford; daughter, Robin (Andrew) Waits; grandchildren, David Crawford, Nathan (Abby) and Daniel Waits; great grandson, Carson Waits.

Funeral service Saturday, April 12, 2014, 11 a.m., at The Chapel – Akron Campus Memorial Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, Ohio 44304, with Pastor Myron Lindsey officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Haven of Rest Ministries, P.O. Box 547, Akron, Ohio 44309-0547.
