Don E. Swartz

Don E. Swartz, 88, passed away December 14, 2013.

Born in Mogadore, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a graduate of Kent State University. Don taught and coached in Suffield and Solon and was a high school principal in North Ridgeville, Norton and Beachwood. He served as Superintendent in the North Ridgeville Schools and as Assistant Superintendent of Elyria Schools, before retiring in 1981.

Preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline; brothers, Fred, James and Max; he is survived by his children, Amy Swartz of New Milford, New Jersey, Lee (Denis) St. Marie of Westlake, Scott (Sheri) Swartz of Rocky River; grandchildren, Scott and Jack St. Marie, Samuel, Jane, Anne and Charles Swartz.

Memorial service will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, 1:00 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Rev. Harold Duncan officiating. Private burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elyria Schools Endowment Fund, 9080 Leavitt Road, Elyria Ohio 44035.
