Don W. Hickin

Don W. “Duck” Hickin, 81, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2023.

Born September 19, 1942 in Cuyahoga Falls, he was a long time resident of Akron. After graduating from high school, he entered the workforce and retired from U.S.F. Holland as a truck driver in 1998. Duck was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and VFW. He was an excellent mechanic and loved motorcycles and watching car racing. He also enjoyed football and boating.

Duck was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Evelyn Hickin, and sisters, Patty Ann Norton and Edna Nicholas. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia L. (Norman) Hickin; children, Jennifer (Mark)(Hickin) Ferrar, Harold R. (Shaw) Hickin, David (Shaw) Hickin, Danny (Shaw) Hickin; grandchildren, Aaron, Tressa, Nathan, Josh, Summer, Savannah, Shelby, DJ, Seth, Danny Jr., Bear; 4 wonderful great-grandsons; Chris Cannady; former wife, Charlotte Dugger; favorite caregiver, his dog Maggie; lots of truck driver friends and card buddies; home healthcare givers, Megan, Melanie, Dale, Steve and the Justin T. Rogers caregivers.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, January 7^th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 5 p.m.

The family requests that everyone please wear a mask for the duration of calling hours and funeral service. Masks will be provided at the door.
