Dolores M. Leslie

Dolores “De” M. (Dessecker) Leslie peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 16, 2023, surrounded by her family.  

She was born to Webster and Helen Dessecker on April 14, 1937.  After graduating from Buchtel High School, she married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) David Leslie, on August 4, 1956, and began her lifelong profession as an exceptional homemaker. Her interests included cooking, crocheting, fishing, and attending Bible study. She especially loved making memories with family and friends at the family cabin in Deersville, Ohio. 

We will always remember her love and devotion to Jesus and how she impacted and changed our lives and the lives of countless others through her faith, prayers, and unselfish generosity.  While we will sorely miss her, we find comfort and peace in knowing that she is finally home.     

In addition to her parents, De was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley (Robert) Jones and Betty (Robert) Reese; sister-in-law, Jeanne (David) Woloch. Left to honor De and remember her love are: her husband, Richard; son, Jeff; daughter, Lori (Curt); grandchildren, Rachel (Jeremy) Kral and Andrew (Rebecca) Tipton; great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Yassah, Lillian, Gospel Kral, and Adilynn Tipton; brothers-in-law, Robert (Carrie) Leslie and James (Diane) Leslie, and sister-in-law, Kandi (Robert) Leslie; dearest friend, Bonnie (Howard) Maxwell; many beloved nieces and nephews.

De’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the many friends and family, as well as, the Heather Knoll staff for their loving comfort, care, and support.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM  at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685, and Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 9:30 until the service, beginning at 10:00 AM, The Chapel in Akron, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, Ohio 44304 with Pastor Dale Saylor officiating.  Interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to First Glance, 943 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, OH 44314. First Glance is a student center whose mission is to connect students and their communities to Christ and the Church through real, loving, and non-threatening avenues.
