Devin M. Hetrick

Devin M. Hetrick “Schmev”, age 51, passed away on January 30, 2025 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. 

Born in Akron, she was a resident of Tallmadge, graduating from Tallmadge High School in 1992. She worked in transportation for 12 years. Devin enjoyed coloring, doing housework, and long car rides with a coffee. Most of all, she loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandbabies. 

Devin was preceded in death by her parents, Michael R. Hetrick and Roberta L. Cox; sister, Gretchen L. Gilmore; and grandmother, Elsie Hetrick. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey M. Thomas (Tannah) and Jordin M. Thomas of Beloit, Destin Rogers of Mentor; grandchildren, Kayson L. Dailey, Jeffrey Michael Thomas Jr., Amanda Michelle Steed; sisters, Patricia S. Essary (Rodger) of Ocala, FL, Sheila M. Richardson of Ellet; nephews, Mark, Ryan, Jadin, Hunter, Chase, Cohen, Carson; nieces. Sarah, Erin, Chloe, Piper, Anna, Peytin, Brexlyn; sweet aunts, awesome cousins, and the best of friends: special friend, Bill Horsfall, and lifelong best friend, T.J. Blomgren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jeffrey Thomas and sent to the funeral home. 

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, February 4th from 2 to 4 pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 4 pm with Pastor Ben Flanagan officiating.
