Derrill L. LeBarre, age 87, passed away on January 14, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Akron, he was one of 14 children born to Ralph and Grace LeBarre, and was a life resident of the area. Derrill served in the U.S. Army and was employed as a welder for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and sold his work at many craft shows along with his wife. Derrill loved listening to classical music, his favorite piece was Ravel’s Bolero. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and often used the expression “Odds Bodkins!” when something went wrong with his hand of cards. Above all, Derrill loved spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Loretta; son, Barry Wells; and grandson, Adam Jenkins, Mr. LeBarre is survived by sons, Kevin (Marilyn) Wells, Brian (Ruth) Wells and Rod LeBarre; daughters, Cookie (Brad) Black, Merri Lynn (Butch) Jenkins, Becky Motz and daughter-in-law, Joyce Wells; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Watson. The family would like to thank Hospice of Summa for their care during Derrill’s illness.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Summa, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-6153.
