Delores L. “Dee” Guthrie, age 81, from Knoxville Tennessee, formerly from Akron Ohio, went home to meet the Lord on Friday October 5 at 1:45 pm at her home in Knoxville.
Dee was born in Southern Ohio and lived most of her life in Akron Ohio until she moved to Knoxville, TN. 11 years ago to be with her daughter Debbie. She graduated from Springfield High School and was retired from Loral Aircraft breaking where she was the mail lady. Dee was a member of Millheim Baptist Church in Akron and Victory Baptist Church in Knoxville.
Dee loved God. She loved her church families and especially loved spending time with her family and loved ones. Dee loved softball. She loved to play it and watch it. She even played on a women’s softball team at the young age of 65. She loved to go to Cades Cove in the Smokies to look for bears. She was always known for her unique knack of making everything match from her dresses and jewelry and especially down to her shoes. Dee had a BEAUTIFUL smile and never met a stranger. She was always the first to help when anyone needed anything. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the joy of knowing her.
Dee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry; son, Randy; five brothers; and four sisters, including her twin sister, Doris. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Triplett and her husband Steve of Knoxville, TN; son, Darrell Blankenship of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law, Kathy Blankenship of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Jason Boggs, Jeremy Boggs, Matthew (Miranda) Blankenship, Kevin Blankenship and Dan Bray, David Blankenship, Jackie Dent, Kenny and Brandi; sisters, Frances Ackley (Pearl) and Sarah Wedlake; lifelong friend, Susie; and lots of special nieces and nephews.
