Deborah J. Smith, age 64, passed away on November 10, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
A lifetime resident of the Akron area, she retired from Akron Children’s Hospital after 25 years of service. Deborah was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan and was very happy to spend time at home.
Preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel Corbin; brother, John; and sisters, Kathy, Terrace and Donna; and brother-in-law, George Darlak, she is survived by her loving spouse/companion of 27 years, Gary Speelman; and her daughters, Wendy (Todd) Davy and Sabra (Lisa) Babick; grandchildren, T.J. and Evan Davy; brother, James (Victoria) Corbin; and sisters, Candice Darlak and Sandra (Keith) Kline. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and her faithful dog, Sam.
Deborah’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Summa at Home for their loving care.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. At Deborah’s request, cremation will take place. The family suggests memorials to Haven of Rest Ministries, P.O. Box 547, Akron, OH 44309-0547.
