Dean E. Hartong

Dean E. Hartong, age 95, went home to be with Jesus on January 25, 2023.

Dean was born in Greensburg and lived in Green. He graduated from Manchester High School and served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. He was a farmer for 72 years and a member of Maranatha Bible Church. Dean was a Farm Bureau member, on the Farm Council, and in the ABF Class at church. When he wasn’t working on the farm, he enjoyed reading.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Beulah Hartong; wife of 72 years, Dorene Hartong; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Glenn and Marybelle Hawk; and brothers-in-law, Richard Benton and Wayne Robinson. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Ann); daughters, Debbie (Jerry) and Diane (Jim); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Annabel Robinson and Glenna Benton.

A huge thank you to the Crossroads Hospice team, Cherise, Tianna, Deanna, and Gina. We appreciate you and are so grateful for your service.

Friends and family will be received Monday, January 30^th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Greensburg Cemetery.
