David W. DeHaven passed away peacefully at the age of 80, just as he lived his life, by refusing to go down without a fight.
He was the perfect example of the American dream. Raised in an orphanage and then foster care, Dave worked his way through college, met the love of his life, and joined the military. He later earned a master’s degree in Education/ Administration. His last position was as the principal of Lake High School until he retired in 1995. In his spare time he worked tirelessly as a master carpenter building homes, furniture, and additions for so many people. He was the hardest worker anyone ever knew.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lois "Jeanie"; and brother, Clayton. Left to treasure his memory as a loving father is: Julie (Jim), Brian (Stacey), Darren (Erin), and daughter-in-law, Patti; as a grandfather is Katie, Jacob, Alex, Darbi, Rachel, Paige, Alexandra, Zane, Josh and Derin; and as a great-grandfather is Isaac.
His sarcasm, sense of humor, conservative views, kind heart, generosity, and talents will be forever cherished by his family and friends....and now maybe someone else will win in cards.
