David L. Culp

David L. Culp, age 74, passed away on March 21, 2017 in Mesa, Ariz. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; sons, Richard (Sheryl) and Mark of Akron; and daughter, Cheryl (Chris) McCormick of Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren, David (Meg), Michelle, Nicole, Declan, Ellery and Maeve; and great-granddaughter, Jillian. David graduated from Buchtel High School and served in the U.S. Army and Reserves for nine years. He joined the Akron Police Department in 1967 and retired as a Sergeant with 30 years of service. He is a member of FOP Lodge #7 and the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio. David was an avid pool player, fisherman, hunter, car mechanic, and a lover of computer technology. He will be missed by many people in Ohio and Arizona. Calling hours will be on Monday, April 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312.
