Dale Allen Campbell, 85, born June 20, 1929, died peacefully on May 4, 2015.

He was born in Edison, Ohio. After graduating from Mount Gilead High School, Dale attended Ashland College, then served in the Marine Corps from 1951-1953. He was deployed for a year in Korea. Upon returning from overseas, he married his college sweetheart, Kay, and graduated from Ashland College. Dale was a dedicated teaher, coach, principal, and administrator in the Springfield Local School District from 1954-1982. He also officiated basketball and football games in the area. Later, he was on the BPA pf the Village of Hartville.

His retirement years were spent farming, harness horse racing, traveling, volunteering and attending his grandchildren's activities. He was one of the founding members of the Uniontown Veteran's Memorial Committee. Dale was a man of faith who joined the Gideons and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Violet Campbell; sister, Eleanor Sebring; and brother, Raymond Campbell. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Kay Campbell; daughters, Lynn (Tom) Clay, and Lori (Larry) Hart; grandchildren, Alaina (Benjamin) Smith, Jonathon (Rachele) Hart, Joshua Hart, Brianna *Ryan) McFarland, Cassandra Clay, Jessica Hart; great grandson, Jonathon Hart, Jr.; niece, Sharon Whipple; and nephew, David Campbell.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend, and neighbor who will be greatly missed.

A special thanks to Dr. Mark Smith and Dr. Simona Suchan, and all who cared for Dale at Shepherd's Gate, GreenView, and Crossroads Hospice.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Homer Burket officiating. Burial will be later at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Nelson conducting the committal service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dale's memory may be made to The Gideons International at www.gideons.org or GRace United Church of Christ, 13275 Cleveland Avenue NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
