Dale R. Alloway

Dale R. Alloway, 82, went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2012 after a courageous battle with ALS and COPD.

He was born March 13, 1930 in Marietta, Ohio and moved to Akron at age 10. Dale started working at Kenmore Machine when he was 15 and retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 36 ½ years of service as a machinist. There is almost nothing he could not build or repair. Dale belonged to NAWCC since 1964 and was a member of ATCA & TCI and the Pulmonary Group of Akron since 1988. He loved old cameras, flea markets and yard sales. Dale was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by parents, James and Kathryn Alloway; he is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Jacqueline; sons, Stephen (Cassandra) and Richard; daughters, Pamela (Donald) Eitner and Cynthia (Paul) Wiseman; grandchildren, Matthew Alloway of California, Lisa (Chris) Allgood, Valerie Donohoe, Keith Eitner and Dale Donohoe; brothers, Bob (Lani) and Jack Alloway; sisters, Donna (Tib) Young and JoAnn (Tom) Gosorn; many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the staff in the PICU ward of Akron General Medical Center for their loving care of Dale.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Reverend Harold R. Duncan officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. Friday until service time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Columbia University ALS Gift Fund, c/o Columbia University Medical Center Development Office, 100 Haven Avenue, Suite 29D, New York, NY 10032 to help find a cure for this terrible disease.
