Clayton E. King, 88, passed away December 22, 2013.

He was born in Pisgah, West Va. and lived in Akron since 1951. Clayton was a Navy Veteran of World War II, and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1987 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church and the Men’s Blue and Gold Club at Goodyear.

Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Versie King; he is survived by his wife of 66 years of marriage, Alma; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and David Smith of Edinboro, Pa.; grandsons, Ryan Smith of New York, N.Y., Eric Smith and his fiancée, Gracyn of Charlotte, N.C.

Funeral service will be held Friday, 9 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Brian Nutt officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd. #445, Independence, OH 44131.
