Clark Calvin Bennett

Clark Calvin Bennett, age 89, passed away July 31, 2014.

He was born on August 5, 1924 outside Grantsville, W. Va., and was a longtime resident of Portage Lakes. The family is proud that he served his country in World War II and the Korean War. Clark retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. and the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank. He enjoyed and watched his sports, and was a fan of country music.

Preceded in death by wife, Catherine; siblings, Ruth, Harvey, Tressie, Berton, Wonetta, Dennis, Oscar, Beulah, Todd and Arnie. He is survived by a beloved special friend; children, Nancy Longwell, Bernard (Susie) Bennett, Lori (Duane) Seaver, Timothy (Darla) Bennett, Thomas (Joyce) Bennett, Brett (Laura) Bennett and Gayla Lee; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Leamon; and couch buddy, Taz. Thank you to Crossroads Hospice and Summit Villa for the excellent care that was extended to Clark.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Darryl Moulder officiating. Burial will follow at East Liberty Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487.
