Clark Calvin Bennett, age 89, passed away July 31, 2014.
He was born on August 5, 1924 outside Grantsville, W. Va., and was a longtime resident of Portage Lakes. The family is proud that he served his country in World War II and the Korean War. Clark retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. and the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank. He enjoyed and watched his sports, and was a fan of country music.
Preceded in death by wife, Catherine; siblings, Ruth, Harvey, Tressie, Berton, Wonetta, Dennis, Oscar, Beulah, Todd and Arnie. He is survived by a beloved special friend; children, Nancy Longwell, Bernard (Susie) Bennett, Lori (Duane) Seaver, Timothy (Darla) Bennett, Thomas (Joyce) Bennett, Brett (Laura) Bennett and Gayla Lee; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Leamon; and couch buddy, Taz. Thank you to Crossroads Hospice and Summit Villa for the excellent care that was extended to Clark.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Darryl Moulder officiating. Burial will follow at East Liberty Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. The family suggests memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605.
