Christos Christ

Christos “Chris” Christ, age 87, passed away on April 21, 2022. 

Born in Canton to the late George and Beatrice Christ, Chris was a graduate of McKinley High School and Kent State University. He made his home in Cleveland and Canton and was employed by Canton City Schools. Chris was a proud member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church and was an active member, coaching the church basketball team and participating in the men’s club activities. He had a fondness for golf (in Florida), Greek dancing, dancing the jitterbug, and woodworking…especially toys for his grandkids. Chris loved his family. There was never a game or event of his grandkids that he didn’t try to make and he even found time to coach his son’s youth baseball team. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Crystal, and brother, Pete. Left to cherish his memory is son, George (Pam); daughter, Pam (Mark) Murphy; grandchildren, Zachery (Stacy) Christ and Wesley (Mel) Christ, Kellyn (Troy) Richeson, Katie (Marcus) Wattley, Kara (Scott) Gooden, and Mark (Natalie) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Jordy, Jorja, Harrison, Hendrix, Clayton, Carson, Caleb, Myla, MJ, Mara, and Macy; sister-in-law, Elaine Christ; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 251 25th St. NW, Canton, Ohio 44709, on Thursday, April 28th, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am. Services will begin at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas presiding. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, Ohio.
