As family and friends grieve, angels cheer as Charles W. Lemons arrives at Heaven’s Gate on June 6, 2013, at age 78.
Born in Akron, he lived in Springfield Township most of his life. Charles was an outstanding maintenance foreman for 41 years at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., whose expertise was used at Goodyear plants all over the world. He was a very skilled man who could repair anything. He was a member of Mogadore Baptist Church for 31 years, and truly lived a servant’s life. His faith, family, and friends meant everything to him. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, who he dearly loved.
Preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucille; and sister, Shelby Jean, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Hazel; son, Dennis (Lori); daughter, Shelley (Michael) Johnson of North Carolina; stepsons, Alvin (Lana) and Bryan (Kathy); grandchildren, Lindsay, Meredith, Haley, Adam, Matthew and Jacob; great-granddaughter, Stella; brother, Kenneth (Teresa); and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312; and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11 a.m. at Mogadore Baptist Church, 3750 Albrecht Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44312, Pastor Rob Seymour officiating.
